It can’t have been the ideal run-up to Fringe 2024 for Susie McCabe. Two weeks before the kick-off of the grueling month of August and while in south of England, Susie suffered a heart attack and ended up with heart surgery. Medics advised she could do Edinburgh, but considerable lifestyle changes had to be made. Surely this incident would make an ideal topic for her show?
With a long list of sell-out shows ahead McCabe decided while it would feature, there were a few other subjects that needed aired first in this hour.
Susie started off by staying she had a good previous 12 months, especially in relation to others. She got married to Nicola, they honeymooned in a 5 star Edinburgh hotel, and related the difference from usual hotels she stayed in as a touring comic, gourmet dining, as opposed to vending machines, wedding vouchers, a visit to Waitrose somewhat different than her normal shopping, girls nights out, an intervention, Susie paints pictures with her word, making situations feel almost tangible.
Her profile in the comedy world has been raised, there have been numerous TV appearances already and this should increase considerably given the sell-out live shows. Tickets are like gold dust. Get one if you can
