Adults Only Magic Show 4.5**** - One4Review
one4review | On 05, Aug 2025
This popular show returns to the festival and barely needs an introduction. It is a combination of magic and comedy with some bizarre nudity thrown into the mix. Compare ‘Magnus Danger Magnus’, and magicians Sam and Justin ignite the stage literally with an array of mind-boggling tricks and slapstick comedy from the outset.
Magnus Danger Magnus gets the show underway, his zany moustache, facial expressions and attire get you giggling from the start, he then cleverly pumps up the audience for the anticipated arrival of Sam and Justin. The magic begins and we are treated to an array of various tricks including escapology, disappearing tricks and card tricks, I will give you a handy tip, keep your phone in your pocket! As the performance rolls along at a fast pace there is ample amounts of hilarity along the way. Sam’s calm and collected persona is counter acted by Justin’s wild and borderline out of control antics. As the show progresses, Sam explains where it all began and how he and Justin met.
There is an abundance of audience participation as volunteers are brought up on the stage to assist with the tricks, despite some reluctance, they do receive an award for their efforts! As the show continues the performance becomes increasingly riotous as all three performers ultimately strip down to the bare bones which goes down well with the female audience members. The noise level in the auditorium increases as the show progresses and the energy and passion is there for all to see. This unique magic show continues to the conclusion of the show when a trick that has been brewing throughout the show is finally revealed at the end much to the appreciation of the audience.
This is a popular show at the fringe that has been reviewed many times so book early to avoid disappointment. The magic tricks are excellent and the comedy that runs along with it works a treat. Not sure if the nudity is actually needed but it certainly adds to the laughter and on-stage frolics!
