Andy Barr – The Hotly Anticipated 4th Debut Hour from Rising Star Andy Barr 3***

| On 07, Aug 2025

Andy Barr returns to the Edinburgh Fringe with his new show, “The Hotly-Anticipated Fourth Debut Hour of Rising Star, Andy Barr” and it’s a full on hour of absurdity and silliness.

His musings are at times rather random but there’s some very well written and well delivered comedy at the heart of this show. Barr works in a school library in order to help fund his comedic goals as well as many other revenue streams and at times there was a scholarly vibe to the show.  Like we were talking there to be educated by him rather than entertained.
There’s a lot of puns and lots of pints throughout proceedings which adds to the chaos.  Although there were many laugh out loud moments, the level of nonsense was a little distracting hard to follow.
Andy’s humour is dry but punchy and his observational style is surreal with a poetic slant.  The whole show feels a little self indulgent and the ending left me wondering what the show had been about.  It was just all a bit too random for me.
If you’re looking for something a little bit different to the usual stand up, then this may be the very show for you.
