Will Owen- Looking Fab at 50  4****

| On 20, Aug 2025

Will Owen’s looking Fab at 50 but he’s barely half that age! The gay comedian takes to the stage wearing out of sorts attire that matches his out of sorts and unsettled way of life.

Will begins the show with a bit of guilt and admiration towards his mum and decides to give her a loving shout out on Radio Two, but when it came to being live on air, it doesn’t quite go to plan as his preconceptions and nerves get the better of him.

Will then moves onto the real story of the show namely the struggles and endeavours of coming out and being gay. Since his dad took him to ‘The big gay out’ event at the age of nine, he has struggled to find the perfect partner that measures up to all his expectations as he hides behind his walls of self-security. He discusses his experience while using the ‘Grindr’ App and unexpectedly sees a little more than he bargained for of someone very close to him. He then recalls the time at high school when he volunteered to take part in a German student exchange programme but when he shows his student the sights and sounds of London, his student is a bit taken aback by his choice of music!

After some introductions with the audience, Will’s next escapade involves a trip to Ireland and booking into an air B&B where an unfortunate incident involving a door handle leaves him in an uncomfortable situation. When he returns home after another failed expedition, he realises there was a lot more love in the air than he thought. Will ends the show with a radio broadcast and sings a song that summarises the key points of the show.

Will is a fantastic performer, he knows how to keep an audience entertained with his quirky one liners, facial expressions and mis directed humour. If you are part of the LGBTQi+ community you will find this show hilarious, if you’re not then this show might not be for you as it needs some humour out with the gay scene which I believe Will is more than capable of providing.
