Vladimir McTavish: Scotland 45 Events that Shaped a Nation 4****

| On 11, Aug 2015

Vladimir McTavish, a stalwart of the Scottish, in fact international, comedy scene is back with his 2015 offering and as we can expect with this comedy craftsman it is certainly one to catch.

As often before McTavish centres his show on Scotland, both ancient and modern and his show liberally sprinkled with historical facts together with his musing and opinions on what makes Scotland the nation it is today.

As one would expect post Referendum and General Election there is a fair amount of swipes at politics, but they are not alone Burns Suppers, Wee Frees, Edinburgh pub names, Citizen Tests and RBS are a few of his other targets.

Although the material is largely Scottish themed it is not essential to be a Scot to enjoy it. I was sitting next to some New Zealanders who were laughing every bit as much as the locals, as were the English contingent as well.

McTavish muses that one of the Scottish traits is to be disappointed at everything, but I feel it would be impossible to feel that way after this fine early evening hour.
