Laser Kiwi – Everybody Knows – 5***** - One4Review

Laser Kiwi – Everybody Knows – 5*****

| On 23, Aug 2025

Returning with their brand new show “about ideas that are good, and ideas that are so bad they’re good”, Laser Kiwi bring their own special blend of sketches, comedy, circus acrobatics and weirdness to the Fringe.

A New Zealand trio consisting of brothers Zane and Degge (who, among their talents, are amazing jugglers) and Imogen Stone (who, among her own, is a breathtakingly skilled aerialist), Laser Kiwi has been a Fringe staple for years, delighting (and sometimes confusing) audiences with their humour and athletic prowess. The show starts with Imogen performing a handstand while DJing with a pair of turntables and that somewhat sets the tone for the rest of the show.

It’s fair to say that, while the humour carries on into the circus skills, there’s a line between the parts of the show designed to make you laugh with delight and those to make you gasp with wonder. Imogen’s incredible aerial skills are contrasted with a genuinely hilarious sketch where the audience plays charades with the cast, reading their prompts off a laser display.

Laser Kiwi refer to themselves as a surreal sketch comedy group which, while it’s not untrue, I think implies they’d be less accessible than they are. This isn’t some high-concept art piece with bizarre visuals, it’s a loud and joyous celebration of things that delight, from the ridiculous to the fantastic and there’s something to enjoy for everyone.
