And in the End - One4Review

The time, 10:52 pm 8 December 1980, outside the Dakota Apartments New York. Five shots ring out. John Lennon has been shot and as he struggles for life Lennon’s life flashes before him. Valentine Pelka is Lennon, he looks like him, he talks like him and gives a magnificent performance of the trials and tribulations, the highs and lows, the success and failures of this “rock’n’roll” hero. Pelka’s performance is captivating. Assisted by very able direction by writer Alexander Marshall and the male and female gatekeepers Merwin Goldsmith and Wilma Mondi, the piece never flags and is over far too soon. It is scheduled for Broadway next year, so take my advice, miss it at your peril, get your ticket now, or you will really have missed out. *****
