Hot Pursuit - One4Review

There is a crime wave that has hit the village of Upper Lower Greater Middle Gobbleston, culminating in multiple murder, and it is down to village bobby PC  Butler to solve the mystery. He is to be assisted by disgraced Detective Sergeant Cassidy to get to the bottom of it all, but is as simple as it all seems? This is a smashing…. I hesitate to call it a play, ’cause it is far, far more. There are elements of musical theatre, farce, sit-com, TV Cop show and even panto as the piece written by Clare Plested, Amanda Wilsher and Adam Brown delighted the audience for entire show. Ms Wilsher has the task of directing Ms Plested as Cassidy and Adam Brown as Butler as she draws fine performances from them as they are guided through the frantic action that is integral to the storyline. There is an added factor that makes this a superb show and that is the mastery of the set design and construction. In all my years of Fringe theatre going I have never seen a more versatile construction, I’m sure there were Tardis’s with all that was packed into them, and the way they are used, putting Transformer toys to shame, is worth the admission money alone. I have no doubt at all in giving this production a huge thumbs up, it is probably the funniest thing I’ve seen on the Fringe this year. Looking forward to next year’s guys, top this if you can. *****
