A New Routine - One4Review

There is no doubting the pedigree of this new company, three West End actress singer dancers as the three performers, with musical arrangement and direction from Jay Beattie, the only male in this company at the Fringe. A collection of characters explore life before, during and after change, punctuated by musical numbers which themselves have evolved from those we would normally expect. I have heard this particular show described as "’Viagara Monologues’ with / on Tap". Each piece is well performed although I am still a little confused as to whether it was just three characters we were following, although I’m sure there were others in there. The musical numbers both the songs and tap had been cleverly choreographed by Jo Turbitt who is also one of the three performers on stage. The other two being Amira Matthews and Holly Dale Spencer. Although I thoroughly enjoyed this show I felt that the lighting let it down particularly when the first dance took place in virtual darkness, although it sounded very interesting. Billed as having live musicians and synthesizers but it sounded taped to me, otherwise a good show with a top quality cast. ***
