The Comedy Zone - One4Review

I have been a regular attendee of this show for years, as it is a showcase of some of the up and coming comedy talent around. The format is the tried and tested one of a compere and three acts each of which get to sample the unique Edinburgh Fringe atmosphere by doing abut twenty minutes of their act. The acts on the bill I saw were compered by Jon Richardson, who set the tone and hecklers and generally warmed up the crowd. Bristol based, I can foresee a good future looming for him. The first act was Jesus look-alike Dan Atkinson continued the good work already laid down His material was funny and his interaction with the audience set up future targets for those who followed. Janice Phayre, the only act I had seen before, she having previously performed with Phil Nicol in Freedom a few years ago, closed the first section. Janice is manic, a total nutter, and has a fine line of comedy, mostly sex based. I loved her set. The closing act was laidback Welshman Lloyd Langford. I took longer to appreciate him, but once reeled in, I really enjoyed his set. I have, as previously stated visited the Comedy Zone regularly over the years and personally, I think this is the best line up for ages. ****
