Terry Saunders  -       Missed Connections - One4Review

Saunders’ show’s mix of stand up and storytelling examines the missed connections ads where strangers can post a description of a person they fancied on sight in the vague hope that they might see the ad and respond to it appropriately. Saunders’ manages, even with this small idea, to create a story that has depth and intelligence which he narrates with effortless grace even when being painfully honest about his own inadequacies, which of course are some of the funniest parts. Even though exploring some amazing ideas: parallel universes and out of business opticians, Saunders never strays away from the core narrative or the melancholy but hopeful tone which is a breath of fresh air amongst the usual cynical smoke-filled air of most other comedians’ in general. He also manages to steer clear of seeming sorry for himself and thus Saunders touches just the right note; making you empathise and engage with his own experiences and the plight of his characters’. Saunder’s Missed Connections- not to be missed. ****
