The Late Show - One4Review

I saw The Late Show last year and had a really good time.  Not so much this year.  I guess it all depends on the quality of entertainment on offer.  Unfortunately on this case the acts were a bit mediocre and the audience slightly irritating. The bill I saw consisted of Scott Capurro, Marcus Birdman and Adam Bloom, with compere Rob Heeney.  I’d seen Capurro the night before so had heard a lot of his spot before.  However it was interesting to see the faces of the audience drop as he launched into his material.  They had no warning whatsoever.  One girl in particular had her hands to her face for most of the act, looking alternately shocked and disgusted.  It was a . . . divisive start to the evening.  Marcus Birdman managed to bring most of the audience back round although he was having to deal with a lot of comings and goings in the audience.  Capurro had obviously affected a number of bladders. The night did end on a high in the form of Adam Bloom.  This was one of Bloom’s only gigs at the Festival and it was a pleasure to be able to be party to it.  His rapid fire delivery pleased the audience no end. So overall – a bit patchy.  I recommend checking the line up and if you think it’s your bag then give it a go. ***
