A Work in Progress - One4Review

Damian Trasler’s short play is an interesting concept. An author is attempting to bring a detective novel to a climactic ending. Suddenly, the characters confront the author and question how he sees the novel ending. With a cast of young actors, Rattlesnake Theatre Company’s production has something of the feel of a school version. Set in America, there are three characters in addition to the author. There is the suave Private Investigator, the sexually attractive rich wife and a plain, anonymous girl. The acting is stilted and the humour in the dialogue isn’t fully exploited. The author played by Daniel Coleman gives the strongest performance. An entertaining play but the action doesn’t come alive and sizzle with tension. **
