Wildcat’s Last Waltz 4 **** - One4Review

Wildcat’s Last Waltz 4 ****

| On 28, Aug 2023

I was not sure what to expect with this show.  Having seen many drag acts, I prepared myself for something similar. However, it was far from this and actually triggered some emotion. While funny, there was the underlying theme of aging and loneliness that tugged at the heartstrings.

Written and performed by Joshua Welch, the show takes us into ‘Wildcat’s’ living room in Sheffield where the audience are invited to join her for a cup of tea. Here she shares a variety of stories from her life, mixed with hilarity.

There is some live music which adds to setting the scenes in the present and in the flashbacks. The singer had a beautiful voice and the background music provokes emotions.. The show touches some very real topics and highlights them in a sensitive but funny way.

I enjoyed this show a lot. It provided something different to your typical drag act, something I’ve been looking for. There was audience participation but no one is made to feel uncomfortable. It was a touching show which also made you laugh.
