Jon Richardson - This Guy at Night - One4Review

When Jon Richardson states early on in his show that he “does negativity” you might worry about just how amusing the next hour of your life is going to be.  However, Richardson’s particular brand of misanthropy is a special one and he mines a rich comic vein by exploring his general attitude to life, love and the world around him.

This show is all about the ups and downs of life, the idea that you have to go through the bad to get to the good.  Of course, as a perfectionist Richardson is always finding himself let down in one way or another.  Life seems to be against him, but thank goodness for that because it provides him with material that is recognisable and, most importantly, funny.  Very, very funny.

Richardson’s one of those performers that make stand-up comedy look easy.  He appears completely comfortable on stage, at least as much as his pressure-cooker of a venue will allow.  My advice is to grab yourself a bottle of water, something to fan yourself with and a ticket to his show.  He believes that you always have to have a laugh.  On the evidence presented here it’s an absolute guarantee.
