Shappi Khorsandi - The Distracted Activist - One4Review

****
4 stars

I have been following the career development of this very talented lady for a number of years now and am pleased to say each year she is just getting better and better.

Shappi bounds onto the stage chatting to the front row of her packed house gently bantering with them, making everyone feel at home before launching into her set.

Ms Khoursandi is Iranian by birth but has lived in Britain for thirty years and describes herself as natural calico on the Dulux colour chart of Britian.  She  is ‘delighted ‘ that in a recent gang problem the gang was black, white and asian, thus proving harmony.

She plays the role she has created as an activist who gets easily sidetracked so readily that one could be convinced that it is real. I don’t think so though. She is far too clever a comedian and performer to be as shallow as she occasionally portrays herself.

She has strong opinions on a number of subjects and manages to extract humour from virtually any situation. Her show, as always, was well written and delivered and certainly well appreciated by all with in the sweatbox that was the Pleasance Above.

You may have seen her headline on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow recently on BBC1, well if you’re quick you just might be able to catch her live.
