Matt Rudge: We Could be Heroes - One4Review

3 Stars ***

Matt Rudge is a young comic who seems to be on an upward spiral and is delivering his debut one hour show at the Fringe.

The subject matter of heroes and although Rudge aspires to be a hero for his nephews, it is his own father who he classes as a hero.

With a living room set including some original pieces from his parents home he expounds on things that have occurred to him both recently and in the past. His tour supporting a comic hero, an event that caused serious injury in helping a woman in distress and his involvement in dealing with the aftermath of a RTA should make an entertaining.

The discovery of an old letter written to ‘himself’ as a 13 year old should have assisted the process, but I’m afraid while I found the guy personable enough, I in no way found myself blown away. Quite the opposite at times I’m afraid to say.

He has presence there is no doubt, but I was under whelmed with this I’m afraid and as for his rant near the end? Well it definitely was not what I expected.
