Paul McCaffrey : Saying Something Stupid - One4Review

4 Stars ****

Paul McCaffery was a comic I was unaware of until recently and although this is his thirdEdinburgh, this was the first full length show.

Taking to his stage like a duck to water, or should that be a swan, McCaffrey was instantly forging a rapport with his packed out crowd, and his personality was such that once he’d got ‘em, he didn’t let go.

Once a wanna be actor McCaffrey had all in stitches with some self-deprecating material on his lack of statue, the rumours about him at a rave, and a number of incidents in a variety of jobs,

McCaffery has stage presence, is an engaging raconteur and plenty of substance in his material. One of the most telling points was that it seemed he was winding up as suddenly as he started. I was not alone in thinking we had plenty more to listen to, but no his time was up.

I’m certain on this showing he will have a successful career ahead of him, certainly it’s a name I’ll look out for in the future.
