BathTime by Ruaraidh Murray 4 Star ****

| On 28, Aug 2013

Ruaraidh Murray is a writer performer very much in the Irvine Welsh writing about the slightly seamier side of 90’s working class pals, Spike the ring leader, Billy, a more moderate trying to keep everybody under control and Joe Joe a strange guy with a chip on his shoulder.

Murray, somewhat of a local cult hero here abouts portrays all three with a minimum of costume changes and interlinks their stories in earthy language and expressions. Breathing life into them right in front of your very eyes and a very good job he does in the process.

The storyline is not difficult to follow, Murray is believable in which ever skin he is masquerading in and switches with ease from one to the other.

If I was being hypercritical I wonder if the Wee Room with its low rise stage is the best performance space for this production. The interesting opening sequence could probably only seen by the front two rows, us further back just had to guess what was unfolding.

However it was a good hour spend witnessing a quality writer / performer.
