Eleanor Morton – Lollipop **** - One4Review

Eleanor Morton – Lollipop ****

There are a lot of people who are aware of the Scottish comedy scene who have been predicting big things for this young comedian for a while and I am one of them. She is making her debut ‘full hour’ in this year’s fringe and in spite of the early time of day the show is understandably drawing reasonable crowds.

Eleanor has a quite unique style. A slight, small redheaded comic who has the way of appearing to be a rabbit caught in the headlights when on stage, but delivers in style. Her set is diverse, songs on her trusty ukulele, occasional forays to her mini keyboard interspersed with a whole raft of funny, occasionally quirky, but definitely entertaining material more than fulfil her allotted time.

I think this show works well in the smaller room, she is literally able to personally interact with everyone and the vulnerability and awkwardness she exudes is very endearing to all. That said it is not that that makes this an excellent hour, the quality of content and performance is the main seller. I have to say her quirky songs are my favourite parts, but then others may prefer other parts.

Definitely a star of the future, catch her while you can.
