Frisky and Mannish- Just Too Much 4***

| On 20, Aug 2014

There is no doubt that Frisky and Mannish have carved their own special niche on the Edinburgh Fringe that didn’t come close to being filled last year when the duo had a year off. But fear not they are back and once again are performing as only they can.

They are a dynamic couple who excel at singing and dancing, have musical ability and are obviously comical and delightfully bitchy in their parodies of pop songs, especially when supplying their own lyrics to established tunes.

In previous shows they have attempted to educate the audience about music but obviously graduation has taken place and there is extreme pressure and tension with their partnership seeming to be teetering on the edge of break-up.

The show is well directed and pacy, the sound is clean throughout but for me there wasn’t quite enough of the song parodies and except for the Sinead O’Connor skit, they didn’t seem to have the same magic in the performance that has been there in previous years.

It is still a show well worth seeing however, that is if tickets are still available, they do have a deserved hardcore following, so you better be quick.
