Rhys James: Snitch 5***** - One4Review

Rhys James: Snitch 5*****

| On 19, Aug 2019

Rhys James is an increasingly familiar face on TV thanks mainly to Mock the Week. He is an angry young man. He is a miserable young man. Like a more manic Jack Dee!

Rhys is a very fresh faced twenty eight year old; so when he targets the older generation, that is just about everyone in the audience! He does, however, manage to keep everyone on side. This is an hour of original, well observed and very funny comedy.

This hour of stand up really does fly by. Rhys James is a very polished performer. He made his Fringe debut back in 2010. He has a confidence which has clearly grown over that time.

There are routines involving bathing rituals, we humans have, from the cradle to the near grave. A hilarious brilliantly observed piece on playground banter. Estate agents, renting flats and moving in with his girlfriend are all relatable topics.

A recurring reference to those annoying Nationwide ads, where northerners recite their very own (bad!) poetry gives Rhys the perfect opportunity to close the show with one of his very own.
