Donuts 3***

| On 12, Aug 2022

The stage is set with a sofa and 2 lamps (looking pretty much like the start of the series Friends). The show starts with three cast members fidgeting about on the sofa, soon breaking out into synchronised dance movements. They demonstrate their friendship through their choreographed routines and knowing looks. The jazzy background music facilitates the mood of the group as we go through their performance. Basically, the story is pretty much an everyday tale of flatmates living together, demonstrating their volatile relationships with each other. It’s a relatable story where they are getting on one minute then someone annoys the other. They have a falling out and then we see the support they provide to resolve their issues.

The physical theatre element of the show is very good. The cast are great dancers and they worked very well together in their performance. However, the actual story in itself was quite dull and just lacked an element of surprise and wow factor to keep your attention throughout. However, if you are a fan of physical theatre and looking for an early evening show then this might be something to consider.
