Omid Djalili: The Good Times 5*****

| On 12, Aug 2022

It’s been a few years since I’ve seen Omid Djalili, in fact he was one of the first comedians I saw many years ago at the Fringe, so i was excited to see this talented actor/comedian back on stage at The Stand’s Newtown Theatre Grand Hall.

He commands the stage and has a real presence and his edgy material covers a vast array of subjects from racism to politics, Iran TV to Joe Wickes.

He’s appeared in an array of films over the years and I had forgotten he had a starring role in Mamma Mia 2, highest grossing film of 2018, apparently!

He clearly loves being back in Edinburgh, it’s the first place he performed live outside London back in 1998.

Omid pays a beautiful tribute to his good friend, Sean Locke and we the audience join him in applause to the memory of this very much missed comedy icon. A very touching moment in the show.

This Fringe Favourite is clearly adored by his fans and you should go and see his show. This is what stand up looks like! Slick, relevant, and very funny indeed. Well done “Accent Boy”, you nailed it.

See it, say it, sort it!!!
