The Black Blues Brothers 5***** - One4Review

The Black Blues Brothers 5*****

| On 22, Aug 2022

When I first saw The Black Blues Brothers back in 2019, I was amazed at the extraordinary skills and theatrical performances of these amazing acrobats. I was therefore delighted to see that they have returned to perform the show again at this year’s Fringe.

The stage is set up like a 1920’s American cocktail bar. It starts with some of the cast sweeping up the floor listening to a radio that is set up on the bar. Changing channels on the radio they come across the lively soundtrack from the film The Blues Brothers and this is when the action starts.

We are treated to the most amazing jaw dropping acrobatics where they make good use of tables, chairs and a mirror as props. There is a hilarious slapstick comedy sketch set to the music “ Take Your Hat Off”. One lucky lady is invited to sit on stage where they perform a brilliantly choreographed acrobatic routine as they fight over her affections. They also get some members of the audience on stage to join in on some limbo dancing.

These five African acrobats bring oodles of energy and charisma to their performance. They make these acrobatics look so effortless you could almost forget the amount of strength, skill and trust required to pull them off.

The audience loved them and they got a well deserved standing ovation. I would recommend that you get your ticket soon. It’s a great family night out.
