It’s a delight to see a show where an artist is performing to an audience comprised almost entirely of their people. The audience know what they’re there for, the performer knows what the audience wants, and that creates a feedback loop of warmth and appreciation from the audience and more of the good stuff from the performer that can elevate a show which is – objectively – nonsense into this delightful display of utter gubbins from one Mr Tony Law.

Mr Law knows and has fully embraced his style of comedy, and this acceptance and self-assurance is a large part of why his comedy works, and why it garners so much laughter. For the uninitiated, his comedy tends to the silly, with elements of the absurd, because-I-like-it-that’s-why, and whatever occurs to him in the moment. It’s almost impossible to tell how much of his set is pre-prepared and how much is riffing on whatever has happened to take his fancy, such is his style and confidence.

Mr Law is a veteran performer who continues to deliver the well-crafted nonsense established audiences follow him for, without being so niche as to alienate newcomers. A tricky line to walk, and Mr Law is an expert.
