Yellow Bird Chase – 5***** - One4Review

Yellow Bird Chase – 5*****

| On 09, Aug 2022

If I could give this show 6 stars I would. We are instantly engaged by our trio of ‘Maintenance workers’ Capcap – the serious, almost Napoleonesque leader (with medals and the hat to match), Toodles, the loveable dotty daydreamer of the group who is always around for encouragement, and Poodge, the loveable oaf who although seemingly slow on the uptake, has some of the best ideas of the group and is dressed most appropriately for maintenance!

Our trio takes us on an adventure over land, sea, and air chasing the ‘Yellow bird’, the Fluttazar! I am assuming that’s the spelling as actually language is of key importance in this show as the language spoken is one of the best gems of this production, as through interactions with each other and the audience you start to pick up on their language. Pancake, Machu Pichu, Fluttazar, and Splooge are all words that make complete sense once you leave and I defy any family to not be using them for the rest of their day.

Whether it’s fighting pirates, escaping sea monsters, scaling mountains, or looking for glarg, the timing of this show is perfection, no moment is left unused. All of the family will laugh along as time flies in this beautifully put-together performance. I didn’t want the show to end and neither did my children as they were enamoured throughout. Puppetry, expert clowning, wonderful audience interaction, and laughs for all the family make this one of, if not the best children’s shows at the fringe.
