Alison Spittle – Soup 4**** - One4Review

Alison Spittle – Soup 4****

| On 04, Aug 2023

Slightly hidden away in Edinburgh’s Old Town, in a strangely hot room the thought crossed my mind did I really want soup on the menu? But the answer was a resounding yes, when this is served up by Alison Spittle.
I first saw Alison last year and I decided that this would be an excellent way to be the starter for my Fringe coverage this year.
A confirmed soup lover, described as healthy and in today’s economic crisis cheap too, the audience are led through, soup , obviously, WhatsApp groups, bath bombs, money saving tips, the love of a London landmark, her balcony garden, her sister’s wedding hen party and panic attacks, just some of the stopping off points that are opined on during her performance, and there were plenty of laughs and empathy intertwined along the way.
Alison is vey much a non-threatening stand-up, there is little crowd work , but that doesn’t detract in anyway. The delivery style is even paced, and her engaging personality makes for a very comfortable viewing experience, from a performer who offers a show which is an ideal start to a Fringe day.
