Gareth Waugh – It Wouldni Be Me 5*****

| On 14, Aug 2023

It was 12 years ago that I first saw Gareth Waugh on a comedy stage as a raw wee lad from Midlothian. His potential was obvious back then and this has been realised of the intervening years. Waugh has the calm maturity to command his stage and encaptures the audience with his brand of exceptionally funny story telling.
Maturity? Yes. But only to a degree. Waugh has recently become a dad for the first time, he claims this is the only thing that happened to him in the year , so obviously a large chunk of his hour was relating hilarious episodes of the birth and the early weeks of his coming to terms with the step change in his life, together with the hopes for his son.
The other major part of this hour centred on a comedians stag party in Las Vegas and an enlightening if occasionally scary story of 22 mainly comedians getting let loose for a week in sin city. He is not the only comic I’ve seen talking about this week, I’m almost beginning to feel I was there too, yet each has made it funny and enthralling.
Gareth is selling out regularly so don’t delay and miss the chance of seeing a great comic at the top of his game.
