Rhys James : Spilt Milk 4.5**** - One4Review

It’s hard to believe that the very boyish looking Rhys James first performed a stand up show at the Pleasance back in 2010. He has certainly honed his craft. This is a slick, quick fire very polished performance. There are crowd pleasing routines covering such relatable topics as; millennials versus baby boomers, feeling way inadequate at the gym and avoiding commitment. With his many TV appearances, including his regular stint on Mock the Week, this high profile ensures that tonight is a sell out in one of the larger venues at The Pleasance. Rhys is a young man of thirty two but despite this he does seem a little hung up on his advancing years and dwelling on all the things that he can no longer get away with, as he did in his twenties. He does, however, seem relieved that he feels less pressure to achieve and hit certain milestones in his thirties. The truth is that Rhys has achieved so much at the age of thirty two. He is one of the finest and most popular stand ups on the comedy circuit and he is really only just getting started. A very entertaining hour of comedy, cleverly written, with brilliant delivery. 4.5 stars Reviewed by Margot Pleasance One Aug 14th to 20th at 19:30
