Catherine Bohart - Again, with Feelings 5***** - One4Review
one4review | On 22, Aug 2024
So many feelings! The Fringe welcomes back the animated and delightfully queer Catherine Bohart. She’s here with stacks of steamy gossip and wanting to rake through yours too. Mid thirties now, and so she navigates us through a narrative of change; she has someone new, and yeah she is younger than Catherine (enter wink emoji here).
Catherine candidly shared the uncomfortable questions posed by her well-meaning Irish parents around baby-making. Except, her life has taken a backward turn, and she now finds herself in a house share. She notes that the contrasts between someone who is in their mid-thirties and someone in their twenties is evident. Also kitchen implements that are scavenged from local bins and questionable and unsafe sleeping arrangements.
Catherine is equipped with the remarkable ability to deliver witty comebacks and engage spontaneously with her crowd. Her interactions are infused with a magical and personal touch, delivering a performance that is dynamic and lively. She fearlessly explores age gap relationships, as an audience member proclaimed a 14 year gap. The quintessential Bohart-brows rises to the heavens in response to a further remark that the woman needs to keep fit to keep up with her younger lady, by which Catherine follows up with a quick and playful: “don’t brag”.
Catherine shares anecdotes from her podcast, recounting stories where people write in seeking advice; and one of those people who wrote in was sitting right up front. Watching Catherine sail through this was priceless. Not only does she do this with utter comic finesse, she does so evoking proper laughter and silly giggles in her audience.
She truly is one of the best I’ve seen here at the Fringe, so dynamic, so palatable and opulently funny.
