Ben Pope - The Cut 4.5**** - One4Review

First cut is the deepest apparently, however when it comes to surgery you want accuracy and precision as told by Ben Pope in his Fringe Show, The Cut.
Many of Ben’s show-goers have been under the knife but his own surgery is in a very delicate area for a man. It’s a scary time for this funny man and fortunately now, a source of much mirth.
A very cleverly written show, that explores not only our vulnerability to surgery, but also delves into family, illness, loss and charity shops, in a way that is open and genuine.
His material is refreshingly honest, and he’s a real crowd pleaser. Discussing his “other job” and his fairly new relationship with a lady chef provide us with meticulously crafted jokes and unexpected metaphors.
His show is very finely balanced and there are some really tender moments where he lifts the lid on grief and loss of a loved one. It’s thoughtfully written and heartfelt.
The Cut, hits the mark and is a very, very funny show that tickles your funny bone but also leaves you with emotional impact.
Go and see this rising star in his freight container venue!
