Comedy Cellar – Canon’s Gait – 9th October 4.5****

| On 11, Oct 2025

I’ve become a bit of a regular here at The Comedy Cellar in Canon’s Gait Bar, and tonight’s line up offered something for everyone.
Bob Graham was our host for the evening and he did a cracking job, opening up and getting to know the crowd.   Each one willing to give him a gift of a gag, a very eclectic bunch, mostly tourists.  His natural charm and ability to quiz the crowd set the bar for a very entertaining gig.
Next in our line up, Liam Jackson, delivers a very confident and relevant performance. He’s comfortable on stage and his material has a great flow. Lots of witty one liners and creative gags, definitely a comedian I’d like to see more of in the future.
Michael Porter, usually the resident host, takes a step back for a change and fills in for a late comer.  His energy is infectious and no-one in the crowd is safe from his back and forth banter. He has the ability to jump on stage and pull a set together at short notice and keep the show flowing up to the half time break. Plenty of laughs guaranteed.
Bob returns to the stage for the 2nd half and warms up the crowd again for some fresh talent and introduces us to George Anderson, a young American comedian.  His day job as a nanny provides plenty funny anecdotes and his style and timing are on point.  Another comedian for me to see perform a full set in the future.
Canadian comedian Cobin Millage stepped up next with his own very personal brand of comedy which although I found very funny, was somehow lost on some of the crowd unfortunately. And it seemed to put him off his stride a little bit.
Headling the show we have Shannon Brooke, a very talented, young Aussie, all the way from Brisbane.  She has a lovely conversational style and her observations are very funny.   The story telling comes naturally to her and there’s great structure to her set.  Great empathy and interaction with the crowd ends the show on a high.
Congratulations to Bob Graham for being an excellent and entertaining host and well done Michael Porter for pulling together another great line up.
