Jenny Ryan – Bjorn Yesterday 3.5***

| On 02, Aug 2025

Jenny Ryan is a huge ABBA fan! Or is she? Do they even exist? In this one woman show, Ms Ryan explores the legends, the myths, the Gods, these Swedish phenomena.

There’s no question that these pop icons have built up quite an amazing franchise throughout the years and we the public still want more. And that’s a little bit like how I felt during Jenny’s hour long show. Wanting more! More music, more singing, more laughs and more fun.

The Vixen can belt out a tune and has a great voice but we didn’t hear it nearly enough. Whilst she’s very engaging and the show itself is enjoyable it needs some work.

When it comes to research, she’s done her homework, a real deep dive into everything ABBA, from the early years right up to the incredibly popular avatar show in London’s O2.

Jenny makes some very amusing observations on the Mamma Mia movies, expertly picking holes and massive flaws in the plot lines. There’s room for improvement with her props, and I’m sure there will be tweaks made as the show progresses.

I’m not sure what I was expecting from her first foray into musical comedy, but there’s definitely potential here for Jenny to make this a more “immersive experience”.
