Rosie O’Donnell - Common Knowledge 5***** - One4Review
one4review | On 04, Aug 2025
Rosie O’Donnell delivers her one-woman show Common Knowledge and let me tell you, it’s a total triumph. She’s a brilliant storyteller and in this hour long autobiographical tour, she manages to blend very emotional issues with acerbic wit and humour.
Losing her mother at a very early age has made a huge impact on her life but it’s shaped her into a strong, independent powerful woman and mother of 5. She’s fiercely protective of her family and one of the main reasons she’s made the move from the USA to Ireland was to bring up her youngest daughter Clay in a much safer and familiar environment.
This isn’t your normal run of the mill stand-up. It’s an emotional experience with plenty of laughs along the way. Common Knowledge lifts the lid on the life of one of the US’s most beloved female actors.
She tackles a plethora of issues, grief, autism, being a lesbian, adoption and escaping from a toxic environment caused by the President himself! Her story is moving, warm and heartfelt. This is her life on the line and it’s been quite a journey.
It was a real pleasure to see Rosie’s show and the standing ovation she received was very well deserved. I hope to see her back at the Edinburgh Fringe many more times, it’s not far from Dublin.
