Craig Hill - Wait 'Til You See My Entrance! 4**** - One4Review

A master of observational comedy, Craig Hill is a stalwart of the Edinburgh Fringe and his latest show “Wait until you see my entrance” did not disappoint the audience.
The entrance he had adhered in the show title was in fact predictably flamboyant; Craig entered the stage to the vocals of Barbara Streisand dressed all in black with a top hat, sequined blazer and a kilt.
He immediately got to work with the audience, who were eagerly engaged, it was clear that most were not first timers at one of his shows and they were lapping up every second.
Hill is relentless in his barbed comment at the crowd, and this wasn’t contained to the most “at risk” in the front row, the late comers sneaking into the back rows were also fair game.
Much of the show is taken up with affectionally berating Scottish towns and beyond, his impression of people from Yorkshire and Fife were cutting and hilarious.
Towards the end of the show, he steps back slightly back from audience engagement, and we are treated to tales of holiday muggings and misjudged songs at Belfast gigs, these provided welcome variations in a show that was starting to feel slightly samey.
My personal highlight was a genius Glaswegian version of Staying Alive by the Bee Gees (the Weegies)
Hill is a flamboyant force of energy, and this is an exuberant, sharp witted enjoyable show.
