Hair - One4Review

One of the regularly performed shows on the Fringe is the 60’s antiwar musical Hair. If you are unaware of the plot this centres around a tribe of Hippies in the late sixties and the ‘draft’ which sends young men to fight in Vietnam, together with the ensuing protests. This production has been shortened somewhat, but the message is still clear and all the major songs still feature to some extent. The production is ceaseless, the Tribe are constantly on the move and use every square inch of their acting space. The singing voices are generally good, but on occasions the sound lets them down as they occasionally struggle to be heard over a very good, but occasionally loud band. The only real question mark I had about the production was that given the sightlines of the venue, should so much action have taken place on the floor. Those nearer the back would have struggled to see. ****
