Royal Holloway Music Theatre is at it again! What is it? They have the knack of taking musicals that I haven’t heard of before and staging them superbly. This years pearl is Personals, a musical loosely based on the Lonely Hearts column from newspapers, the nine strong cast, six female, three male, perform what is in essence well in excess of twenty songs or scenes with the panache one has come to expect from this fine company. Full use is made of the rather cramped acting space and the scene changes are well executed. The idea of having personal ads on the cast’s tee shirts was also a nice touch. If you are looking for a good fun new musical for the early evening I would give this one my personal recommendation. ****
