Monty Python's Flying Circus - One4Review

Tremendous from the first “It’s” to the very cheeky finale. I must admit to being a Python fan since the first TV airing of the original Pythons over three decades ago. Therefore to impress me, the standard would have to be high. No fears on that score.

Monty_Python_Flying_CircusThe cast of four guys and one female brilliantly recreate some of the familiar sketches plus introduce us to new sketches in the classic Python tradition of the ridiculous and absurd. Does it work in French? Overwhelmingly yes! If like me you only have schoolboy French, or, if you have no French at all, there are easily read subtitles on a screen, and there is something about the rhythm and intonation of the French language that can enhance good comedy.

All manner of characters are paraded before us, gay judges to incontinent athletes. Issues covered range from life after death to the art of custard pie delivery.

This is visual humour at its very best and, fortunately, the performers have a large area in which to work which is needed when the action is physically demanding. The performers do appear to thoroughly enjoy themselves and they handle with ease the move from sketch to sketch.

A wonderful and memorable 90 minutes for all age groups, Python fans and others. Superb!
