Best Of Irish Comedy - One4Review

The Stand Comedy Club has for years, both during the Fringe and also throughout the year, and one show I always try to catch is the Best of Irish. This early evening show has a compere and two acts and the line up changes daily, so it is certainly a show that can be visited more than once. The gig I saw was compered by Eddie Bannon, a genial host who warmed up the crowd with the usual Q & A’s and got them ready for the first act which was Michael Redmond. Having previously seen Michael, I was surprised that he didn’t go down better, but then it wasn’t the easiest crowd. A short interval then a bit more material from Eddie prior to the final act and it was the excellent Owen O’Neill. I never tire of seeing this hilarious Ulster man, and as usual he was at his best. Owen is also performing at Gilded balloon at 19.45 in his own show Owen O’Neill Is A ***t And So Is Seamus Heaney. All too soon it was time to go, but don’t forget its a different show every night. ****
