Rhod Gilbert _ Knocking on Heaven's Door - One4Review
Rhod Gilbert was a name that I came across during Fringe 2005 on a couple of showcases and was more than impressed with what I saw, and he was nominated for the Perrier Newcomers Award. I was pleased to see he was back this year and playing a bigger room, so his was one of the first shows that were put on my schedule for this year. I thought he was a nice guy, but the first thing he did was to ‘kill’ his entire audience and inform us that we were waiting to be processed to see if we were going to getting into Heaven. Each of us has a number, courtesy of being handed a raffle ticket on entering the venue, and that is the order we are to be interviewed. Ever the helpful chappy, Rhod takes us through the questionnaire all will have to fill in, eliciting answers from the crowd, making suggestions at times, but generally making everybody laugh with his easy going nature and wicked sense of humour. I’m sure we are going to hear a lot more of this jovial Welshman, and judging on the frequency that his show is on the Pleasance sell out board I am not alone in thinking this. Do yourself a favour and book now before it’s too late. ****
