Best of Scottish - One4Review

Using the same tried and test ed format of a compere, and three acts, The Stand Comedy Club present The Best of Scottish Comedy each evening and like its compatriot the Best of Irish represents real value for money. The night I had attended Glaswegian Sandy Nelson was the compere and as all good comperes do he warmed up the crowd, chatted with people and got some of his material in as well. The first act was Anthony Murray a young lad now living in Edinburgh. He played the east west divide game a little and had the audience with him through out his set. Next to enter the fray was established Vladimir McTavish. He of course is a veteran of numerous comedy gigs and with the aid of some very funny material he glides through his set making it look very simple indeed. A quick break, then following Sandy doing his stuff again before David Kay did the closing spot. The guy’s look and style take the word geek to another level and he seemed to divide the room, most roaring with laughter, some, and they include me I’m afraid, wondering what all the fuss was about. He wasn’t bad, just not my scene. The line up on this show changes every night, so you never know what Caledonian comics will be appearing unless you check out www.thestand.co.uk ****
