Oleanna, by David Mamet - One4Review

This David Mamet play never fails to evoke reactions from me every time I see it, it is a powerful piece of writing and for the two actor, must be draining to give such emotional performances as the writing demands. In this piece about power and the misuse there of, Professor John and student Carole, played by Andrew Reid and Sheridan Johnson give performances that belie their relative youth, their accents never slip, the emotions are always ‘right’ as the play develops and the power base shifts. The basic set is effective, the direction by Charlie Ward is tight and all in all this leads to an excellent performance, one that should be witnessed before the Fringe is over I defy anyone to leave the theatre felling ambivalent about the play or the production. ****
