Phil Nichol - One4Review

After last years award winning The Naked Racist, Phil is back again with this years offering Hiro Worship. Backed by his band The Stalkers we get the added bonus of Nichol the musician as well as Nichol the comedian. Phil is straight into his show at his normal 100 mile an hour rate, I’m sure he gets 2 hours material into an hour! As is the norm his meeting with unusual people and the things he gets led into is the basis for this years hour of mayhem. At a gig at London’s famous 100 Club, Phil encounters a Japanese guy who can hardly speak any English, but has a passion for the Rolling Stones and Phil being Phil invites this guy to stay in his shared house. The guy is called Hirohito, Hiro for short, and to say he disrupts the already chaotic Nichol life is an understatement as the pair get into so many situations. These are related, interspersed with the band breaking into Stones numbers to drive home the message. Nichol is in my opinion in better form than last year’s winning show, which I certainly did like, this years for me is marginally better. Phil does not really tell gags he just finds humour in the strangest things and delivers them in such a way that the crowd are in stitches from start to finish. ****
