The Atheist  - One4Review

Ronan Noone’s one man play set in Mid-West America is a morality play for modern times. Those who ruthlessly seek fame at all costs may find themselves in a situation out with their control with disastrous consequences. David Sullivan skilfully plays Augustine Early who realises from a young age he has a particular talent for deception and religious belief is not for him. Allied with his desire to be famous he decides the profession for him is journalism. His method of working up the journalistic tree is to take individuals into his confidence and then reveal all for the sake of a good story. Unfortunately, the one opportunity he has to share genuine feelings in a relationship is destroyed by a chance occurrence. The whole play centres on the making of a video diary with an unexpected twist at the end.  A compelling piece of theatre. ***
