Arnold Brown Presents Happiness - One4Review

Arnold Brown is a joy. No gimmicks, no frills and, indeed, no swearing but what he has is immense stage presence and style. His measured, relaxed pacing and the quality of his material hold the attention of the audience from start to finish. Pithy one liners, throwaway comments, and little stories with twists in the punch line are his stock in trade. The title of the show is intriguing. His outlook on life is that, since we live in a period bedeviled with suspicion, bad news and irritations, we need to find our own individual way to achieve happiness. All manner of topics come under his quirky scrutiny – sex, religion, national stereotypes, sheep, swimming with dolphins. Arnold Brown has been doing stand up for decades. His comedy is still as fresh and topical as ever. Does he provide the answer in the quest for happiness?  It is well worth investing the £8.50 or so to discover for yourself. **** Prior to Arnold Brown, there was a guest appearance by Irish comedian Ian McPherson who did a short routine, mainly funny one liners touching on his travels and Catholic upbringing. He closed with a humorous ditty called ‘Song for Europe.
