There are a number of similar shows around at the Fringe this year with hosts selecting acts from the 2000 plus shows on offer, who get a chance to plug their own shows as well as entertain audiences with brief conversations with the host. Stephen K Amos has a limited number of these in a late night slot in the massive Debating Hall and whether it is the man himself or what I’m not sure, but the lineup is usually stellar. Stephen’s ‘House band’ the immensely talented bunch of guys from Australia, Axis of Awesome start off proceedings with one of their own numbers before Mr Amos hits the stage gagging with the audience and generally getting everyone ready for the treats that were on offer. The guests on the night I attended were comedian Justin Moorhouse, the legendry musicians Antonio Forcione and Adriano Adewale, all round star of TV and movie comedian Omid Djalili and finished off with an extract of ‘Club Noir’ a burlesque extravaganza only playing for one night. The finale was again Axis of Awesome with another excellent example of their work and then in was time to go. Amos is a great host , and a really fine stand up as well.
