Eleanor Tiernan - Trouble - One4Review

This is the third Fringe that I have seen Ms Tiernan  perform. I was not too impressed with her first show, last year’s was excellent, so I was curious as to how she would be this year. Bang on time this Dublin based comic hit the stage on a slightly disconcerting note stating she didn’t know if it was for 45 minutes or an hour it depended on how it went, and chatted to her front row of a half full space before launching into her set. Ms Tiernan is an enigma to me, she can be so funny at time, but seems to lack self-confidence. She is so self-deprecating, yet has the guts to stand there seemingly unfazed when there was a extremely rude walk out from the centre of the front row. Her material ranges from all things Irish, the recession, friends, worst gig, relationships and her recent e-bay purchase and the ongoing issues that has caused. Eleanor is a likeable comic and I’d really like to see her reach her undoubted potential. However, I’m not yet convinced that this is the vehicle for her to break through like her brother. Maybe it’ll be fourth time lucky!!   **
