Wendy Wason is somewhat unique in the fact that she is an Edinburgh native AND is performing at The Fringe this year.

Ms Wason, a comedian and actress, first crossed my radar a few years ago when she was performing in Amused Moose Comedy Starlets and I have seen her a couple of times since. She is an articulate, very listenable to comic so I was keen to check this years offering out.

The sauna, which passes for the Gilded Balloon Wee Room, was the venue for her to expound on secrets. She loves secrets but confesses that she is not good at keeping them. Wendy proceeds to tell a few personal secrets of her family and how on secret trip to Paris she took the secrecy fell apart big style.

Although Wendy had plenty of material for her subject and it was varied in its content, somehow I got the feeling that the show wasn’t the best she could do. One overly chatty woman seemed to unsettle her at the start and I think she didn’t fully recover unfortunately.

There is no doubt that she has talent, and with another audience I feel there is a really good show here, it was unfortunate this did not come fully to the fore on my visit. I’m sure when you go however it will.
