How's About That Then? - One4Review
Garry Roost plays Jimmy Savile in Bernie C Byrnes play. For me, it was a superficial treatment. Attired in garish gear, Garry Roost does make a passable impression of sounding and looking like Jimmy Savile with his mannerisms and catch phrases. However, he never seems completely at ease sustaining this for the 45 minutes the play lasted.
The facts of Jimmy Savile’s life were given – his rise from humble beginnings growing up in Leeds, his popularity as a DJ, his celebrity status with his ‘Jim’ll Fix It’ TV series and his charity work.
However, I never felt I learned anything new about the man beyond the commonly known details of his life. The humour was weak and there was little emotional depth in the script or the performance.
